A brief but intense storm on Friday night left much of the city without power or phone lines for the entire weekend in addition to serious damage to houses and local businesses. Winds reached speeds of 75 mph and a tornado touched down in the middle of the city. Many say it was the worst storm the city has seen in 50 years. There was 1 death and over 100 injured.
